What this site counts about you, and what it does not

2026-10-31

This site counts visits, because it is useful to know which pages are read and which downloads are used. It does this with as little information as possible.

What is recorded

  • The page, the time, and the country, which is worked out from your IP address on the server and then forgotten.
  • Your network with the last part removed, for example 203.0.113.0.
  • Your browser, system and device type, such as "Firefox, Windows, Desktop".
  • The website you came from, as a host name only.
  • A one-day code made from your address and browser with a secret that is thrown away every night. It lets the site count you once per day, and it cannot be matched from one day to the next or turned back into your address.

What is not

  • Your full IP address is not stored with any of this.
  • No cookies are used for counting, and nothing is loaded from other companies.
  • If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, you are not counted at all. You can also press Do not count my visits in the notice at the bottom of the page.

A separate security log keeps logins, errors and suspicious requests for 90 days. There the IP address is kept, encrypted, so attacks can be traced.
