StarVault is a desktop vault for credentials, keys and infrastructure secrets that never leaves your machine. Everything is encrypted locally: there is no cloud and no account.
Highlights
- Strong encryption. Argon2id key derivation and AES-256-GCM for every secret and file.
- Optional second factor. Combine your master password with a QR-code keyfile, so unlocking needs something you know and something you hold.
- Organise your way. Groups, services, tags and a server hierarchy, with fast fuzzy search and many ways to sort.
- Vault health advisor. Finds reused, weak, stale and expiring secrets and can fix them with one click.
- Encrypted file vault for
.pem,.ovpn, configs and keys, plus a crypto workbench for encrypting, hashing and encoding. - Browser companion extension for Chromium browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge), and an MCP server for assistants.
- One portable file. Your vault is a single SQLite database you can back up like any other file.
